Welcome to my online teaching portfolio!
I was raised on a farm near Briercrest, Sask. The farm has made me who I am and has helped me develop my love for nature, animals, and the earth. I graduated from Avonlea School in 2011 and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta where I received my Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant diploma. I gained new insights and developed a new understanding for Speech and Language and the development of children throughout my time at the Medicine Hat College.
In 2013, after receiving my diploma, I moved to the "big" city of Saskatoon and began working for Saskatoon Public Schools as an Educational Assistant. My mornings were spent in a deaf and hard of hearing pre-school while my afternoons were in a grade 5/6 class. Throughout my time as an E.A. I was given the opportunity to see a variety of classrooms and students' abilities and became passionate about education and the education system. I knew that I was destined to be in the classroom and without second thought, applied to the University of Regina to the Elementary Education Program.
This brings me to where I am today! I have just finished my Bachelor of Education Degree from the U of R and appreciating each day of new learning. The U of R has provided me with wisdom and experiences within the teaching world. My Pre-Internship placement is in a grade 4/5 classroom with 25 students who have been keeping me on my toes! My Internship was in grade 1/2 and was INCREDIBLE to say the least! I have been experimenting with different subjects, teaching strategies, instructional strategies, and lesson plans.
Outside of school, the farm still continues to be my life. My boyfriend and I live outside of Avonlea and are continually growing our farm. On the weekends, you can usually find me with my niece and nephews or hiking and exploring the Claybank hills with my dog, Maggie. I also spend a lot of time in my kitchen, trying new recipes through baking and cooking.
I hope to continually expand my networks and am looking forward to my future career as an Elementary Educator!
